Build Skills Anywhere: Mobile Learning Labs Accelerate Construction Training

The demand for renewable energy is exploding. And so too is the need for skilled construction teams, sometimes in remote locations. Wild Blue developed a fleet of mobile innovation centers helping Primoris Renewable Energy deliver hands-on, mission-critical construction equipment training, wherever and whenever their work demands.

Construction innovation labs trade pages for the practical, creating an immersive, hands-on experience ensuring workers master core competencies and learn new skills. The mobile training program is part of a larger employee engagement strategy that makes Primoris workers more efficient, more effective and, most importantly, safer.

Wild Blue’s cross-functional team of engineers, architects and designers went to work. The solution demanded a mobile, modular approach. Large enough to teach, but nimble enough to travel to where training is needed most. Something not seen before in construction training programs.

The final design featured two tractor trailers, retrofitted to be easily disassembled, relocated, and reassembled. The combined footprint clocked in at nearly 1600 square feet (about the size of a small house). The interior features a wall-to-wall branded environment with both practical exhibits and interactive displays for topics ranging from basic torque training and cable spacing to advanced techniques and new technologies. Plus, because of the digital design, the system has the capability to train in multiple languages.
